One thing I’ve learned over the years is that most lateral moves don’t fail because of numbers.

They fail because the planning starts too late.

A lot of the conversations I’m having right now aren’t about open roles or compensation. They’re about understanding what firms are prioritizing this year, how partnership expectations are shifting, and whether a lawyer’s current platform still aligns with where their practice is actually headed.

That’s the work I focus on at Esquire Talent Consultants

Not reacting to the market, but helping people read it correctly.
Not pushing decisions, but getting clarity early enough that decisions don’t have to be rushed later.

January is when those conversations matter most.
Before the noise. Before roles become public. Before options narrow.

If you’re thinking about what makes sense next, I’m always open to a quiet, confidential conversation:

For those who are new here, that’s the perspective I bring to this space and to this work.
